IATA: Air cargo volumes predicted to rise 5.8% in 2025 Seasonal demand, front loading of shipments to avoid tariffs and lower fuel prices helped air cargo demand rise again in April, but airlines need to remain ready for trade changes, IATA has warned. The trade association said that total demand, measured in cargo tonne km (CTK), rose by 5.8% year on year. Month-on-month, demand also rose by 2.3%. Demand rose 4.4% year on year in March due to front loading of cargo.

Hactl intelligent cargo thermal detection system processing at SuperTerminal 1 Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals (Hactl) has begun phase two of the implementation of its intelligent cargo thermal detection system at SuperTerminal 1 within Hong Kong International Airport. The first phase of the project commenced in December 2023 and enabled Hactl to scan cargo for exceptional temperatures, immediately before it was loaded onto aircraft.

ATR 72-500P2F test flight for Purolator MRO company KF Aerospace has completed its first ATR 72-500 passenger to freighter conversion (P2F) for Canadian express and logistics firm Purolator and the aircraft is due to enter service next month. Following the P2F conversion, the addition of new livery and a successful test flight, the ATR 72-500 will be operated by KF on Purolator's British Colombia feeder network (BCFN) to deliver critical goods to communities.

DSV will provide more in-kind flights during humanitarian emergencies as part of a strategic partnership expansion with UNICEF. One year into a three-year partnership, the enhanced agreement will enable DSV to support UNICEF in delivering essential supplies during emergencies. Since September 2024, DSV has provided UNICEF with in-kind flights for the delivery of over 85 tonnes of essential supplies for children caught in emergencies in seven countries.
