    Waihī Beach Lifeguard Services has wrapped up a successful patrol season, with calm surf conditions and thankfully, no tragic incidents. Director of lifeguarding Lucy Scown said the 2024–2025 season saw no tragic occurrences and fewer surf rescues thanks to proactive safety measures. “Zero rescues is always the goal.”The club recorded 889 preventative actions and more than 53,700 safety interventions, including public education, beach signage and on-the-ground advice.
