Significant savings are expected to come to Metro Vancouver gas stations this weekend, with prices expected to drop to levels the region hasn’t seen in years. According to prediction website GasWizard, prices could drop 10 cents per litre to 157.9 cents per litre Saturday. However, because stations typically shed their retail margins in the evening, drivers could see an additional savings of eight to ten cents per litre on top of that.

One man has been taken to hospital after a shooting in South Surrey Tuesday night. The violence unfolded in a normally quiet condo complex near 151st Street and 33rd Avenue. It appears the uncertainty looming around tariffs is impacting B.C.’s real estate market. The British Columbia Real Estate Association says housing activity slowed last month. According to a new report, residential home sales were down nearly 10 per cent last month compared to the year prior. The average Multiple Listing Service residential price in B.C. was also down 2.4 per cent to $964,349 compared to $987,811 in February 2024.

Environment Canada has issued rainfall warnings for B.C.’s south coast with an atmospheric river in the forecast for the weekend. The storm system will bring heavy downpours beginning late Friday night. “Once that rain comes in, it’ll just quickly ramp up. And through Saturday, the rain intensity is going to be most likely at its highest, and that will continue for pretty much the entire day on Saturday,” said Colin Fong, a meteorologist for Environment Canada.
