For the second day of the encampment, attendees participated in a “Letters to Palestine” event, as well as Shabbat with the OC-based organization Jewish Voice for Peace. SJP is staying on campus for the weekend, with a schedule of events posted for May 4 and May 5 posted on their Instagram account.

When La Habra city council members voted to spike rents at their publicly owned mobile home parks this summer, they announced the rollout of a financial assistance program that would address the needs of low-income residents. Yet with a Jan. 1 deadline looming for the first installment of an eventual 25% rent hike over the next five years, officials say only 33 people have applied for the program.

After spending over a decade in the Samuel Oschin Pavilion, the space shuttle Endeavour will be moved to the site of the future Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center after Dec. 31, 2023. Once the shuttle is moved, it will be stored for several years until construction for the new Air and Space Center is completed. In the meantime, construction workers are hard at work focusing on the stacking process for the retired space shuttle.

Inspired by the story of Sadako Sasaki, a victim of the Hiroshima bombing, and her thousand paper cranes, Laurie Rubin, along with her wife Jenny Taira, created their musical “Peace on Your Wings” in 2014. The musical, which played at the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center’s Aratani Theatre in Little Tokyo Aug. 5-6, will head to Hiroshima, where it will be playing at Aster Plaza on Sept. 2-3.

After a very successful tenure at the National Crafts Museum in Japan from March 2023 to June 2023, the “Pokémon x Kogei: Playful Encounters of Pokémon and Japanese Craft” exhibition has officially made its debut at JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles, right in the heart of Hollywood. The exhibition, located on the second floor of the JAPAN HOUSE Gallery, officially opened to the public on July 25 and will close after Jan. 7, 2024.
