For the second day of the encampment, attendees participated in a “Letters to Palestine” event, as well as Shabbat with the OC-based organization Jewish Voice for Peace. SJP is staying on campus for the weekend, with a schedule of events posted for May 4 and May 5 posted on their Instagram account.

The walkout on April 24 included bracelet and poster making stations. SJP also chalked on various places across campus such as the Attallah Piazza, Memorial Lawn, the steps at the Leatherby Library and more. Eli Schechter, president of the Students Supporting Israel (SSI) club on campus, expressed his anger after seeing some of the chalkings and demonstrations on campus during the walkout. “(SJP) uses their cause as a vehicle to spread anti-Semitism,” said Schechter.

An April 12 speaker event hosted by Chapman’s Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) has recently contributed to the rise in political activism seen across campus over the past few weeks. The event featured actress and TikTok influencer Maya Abdallah, who SJP chose as a speaker since she is a “big Palestinian advocate,” according to Myth Moos, a junior philosophy and psychology double major who is on the executive board of SJP.

“My staff and I really enjoy collaborating with other units and departments at Chapman and we hope to be able to do more of that now because of the expansion,” Platt told The Panther. Along with the exhibitions and upcoming events at the Hilbert, the museum’s close proximity to Chapman and especially to Dodge College serves as a key resource for students who are interested in film, design and the arts.

WAILUKU, Hawaii (KHNL/Gray News) - Oprah Winfrey, a part-time Maui resident, visited evacuees on Thursday. The media mogul was seen meeting volunteers and talking with residents who have been evacuated from their homes. Thousands of Maui residents have congregated at the War Memorial Gymnasium after the island’s devastating wildfires. Currently, 55 people have been confirmed killed and dozens injured.
