The main barn had big, open windows and most horses stuck their heads out: sunbathing, napping, gazing, greeting curious passersby like me, 5 years old, and my horse-loving dad. We walked right up to the animals. Big horses, little ponies, stars on foreheads, snips on muzzles…I was enchanted.
