    Isabella Chapa has been playing softball since she was 2 years old, but what transpired during last week's District 29-5A game against Ray is a moment the Veterans Memorial freshman will never forget. Chapa became the first Texas high school softball player, and third in the country, to hit three grand slams in one game. Kymberly Lamm from North Carolina and Erin Kauth from Michigan were the other two high school softball players to hit three grand slams in a game.

    The Beeville boys concluded their strong 2025 powerlifting season by claiming first place at the state meet during the weekend at the Expo Center of Taylor County in Abilene. The Trojans were powered by Ryne Espinoza (198) and Cayetano Vidaurri (242), who each won gold medals in their respective weight classes. Vidaurri, who lifted a total of 1,960 pounds, won best squat and bench in the heavyweight division. Arnulfo Puga finished in third place in the 275-pound class for the Trojans.
