Discussion and conclusions In recent decades, there has been a growing push to engage citizen more actively in healthcare processes, a concept evolving into a more inclusive practice that involves people with lived experiences in the codesign of primary care systems. This approach extends beyond the traditional ‘Citizenship for Health’ (Lopes & McKay, Reference Lopes and McKay2020) by ensuring that all residents, regardless of citizenship status, are included in the health discourse.
