A Hill Country city had two confirmed cases of rabies in a week, leading officials to urge residents to keep an eye out for potentially rabid animals before letting their pets go outside. Fair Oaks Ranch, which is between San Antonio and Boerne, reported two positive rabies cases in wild animals last week, according to a news release. City officials said a "very aggressive" fox and a dying skunk tested positive for rabies after they were found in the yards of two residences.

Most weekday mornings and afternoons during the school year, a stretch of Texas 46 that runs through central Boerne fills up with a flood of vehicles, grinding downtown traffic to a halt. Known locally as River Road, it's one of the main thoroughfares for east-west traffic in Boerne, especially for drivers who live east of town and need to get to Interstate 10. A Hill Country teen is dead after a head-on crash in Bandera County, according to state officials. Bandera resident Valeri Mireles, 19, was killed in the crash, which happened on Texas 173 in Bandera County about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, according to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Dila Hidalgo. Bandera County is northwest of Bexar County.

One person is dead after a police chase in a Hill Country town over Memorial Day weekend, police officials said. The incident began at 10:35 p.m. on Saturday when a Kerrville police officer attempted to pull over a Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by Jose Alberto Montes, 27, because one of the truck's headlights was not working, according to Kerrville Police Department Sgt.
