Quincy, Ill. (KHQA) — The National Weather Service/Quad-Cities has our northern counties under a heat advisory through Tuesday evening. Even though you may not be affected by the advisory, heat is extremely dangerous. Northern counties Heat Alert (KHQA)Each National Weather Service Forecast Office issues some or all of the following heat-related products as conditions warrant. NWS local offices often collaborate with local partners to determine when an alert should be issued for a local area.

Quincy, Ill. (KHQA) â The Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, may be visible across the Tri-States late tonight, May 10th, and again Saturday night, May 11th. Our sun has cycled to an active period of sunspots which occurs every 12 years. During maximum activity of sunspots, the sun will burp or rather emit material from the surface known as Coronal Mass Ejections. There have been four of these this week. Our âKâ index forecast according to NOAA is at 8:00 p.m. tonight.

Showers and thunderstorms have been across eastern Kansas and western Missouri today and will slowly move east overnight into Friday morning. A few of these maybe strong with a potential hail threat through late Friday morning.
