As temperatures remain below zero, with the wind making it even colder, hundreds of schools are closed. The Wednesday closures started pouring in on Monday, with many districts electing to cancel classes both Tuesday and Wednesday due to the forecasted blast of cold that won't subside until later this week. The cold weather advisory remains in effect until noon Wednesday with wind chills as low as -20. Expect some light snow showers late Wednesday night into Thursday.

A very cold pattern continues for the Great Lakes region into next week, with the best chance for some additional lake-effect snow in Southeast Michigan coming Friday evening. Snow flurries are likely over the weekend for Metro Detroit, but no accumulation is in the forecast. Some accumulating snowfall is expected on Wednesday next week, with a clipper-type system. Potential totals aren't clear yet, but models suggest several inches are possible.
