A seventh-inning rally wasn’t enough for the Bourne Braves to pull out a comeback win on the road at Brewster on Tuesday afternoon, June 17. Trailing 4-1 after the Whitecaps had put together a pair of early two-run outbursts, the Braves fought back to make it close, but ultimately fell in a darkness-shortened eight-inning game. Down 4-1 entering the seventh, the Braves got things going with a Jimmy Keenan (Wake Forest) walk and a Caden Dulin (Pittsburgh) single that put two aboard.

Harvard skipper Justin Callahan was named the College Sailor of the Year by the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) following the conclusion of the 2025 College Open Fleet Race Championship, held on May 27-30 in St. Mary’s City, Maryland. Callahan, who is entering his senior year, is the son of Paul and Alisa Callahan, and the nephew of Kevin Callahan. He received the prestigious Everett B. Morris Trophy, recognizing the top collegiate sailor in the nation.

Mashpee Middle School competed in last week’s Division 3 state championship meet, which was held over two days last weekend due to inclement weather. Mashpee had three notable performances, led by a pair of second-place finishers from Grey Auger. Auger earned second overall in the division in the 800m race. Auger ran a time of two minutes, 10.19 seconds, to take the runner-up spot.

The MIAA state tournaments recently wrapped up, and it was once again a very fun spring, even if the weather did not cooperate for most of the tournament. It should have been much warmer than it was. Between covering games for the Enterprise and announcing for NFHS, I saw high-level games in baseball, softball and boys’ and girls’ lacrosse. It was a lot of fun. Perhaps the best memory made this time around came from the announcer’s booth.

The Sandwich High School sailing program continued to make steps forward and back toward being one of the more competitive units on Cape Cod this year. Despite a 1-9 record, the team showed it was getting better despite a roster that did not have anyone older than a sophomore. “As expected, we faced challenges and finished with a record of 1-9. However this group showed tremendous potential, resilience and commitment,” Coach Steve Watson said.
