(KESQ)-- Palm Springs Police issue warning to residents to stay clear from the area of South Calle El Segundo and Saturnino Road as they conduct some police activity in the area. The warning also stated that anyone that lives in that area should remain inside and those out of the area should stay clear while police work the incident. Light rain has been reported in the valley. No real issues to report so far, but forecasters are predicting the rain to pick up in the late evening hours. The Date Festival and Modernism week events have not been impacted directly by the rain, and organizers say the events are going on as planned. The Palm Springs Villagefest Facebook group posted just after noon that they have cancelled tonight's Villagefest due to expected weather conditions. As of 1:00 p.m. Thursday, all roads are open.

I-10 Pursuit ends on freeway in Palm Desert, traffic is slow in area

A pursuit has ended on Interstate Ten, but is causing traffic delays on the freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, they are providing traffic control in the area of westbound I-10 near Cook Street. A suspect has reportedly crashed after a pursuit by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Several lanes are blocked just west of Cook Street. Two lanes are open but traffic is slow going in the area. This is a developing story, check back for updates.
President Biden set to travel to Coachella Valley Tuesday

The White House released President Biden's travel plans for next week, and there is a planned stop in the Valley. In a brief statement released Friday morning, it stated that President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden plan to travel to California. On Monday, January 6, the President and First Lady will travel to Los Angeles, California. On Tuesday, January 7, the President will then travel to Eastern Coachella Valley, California. The White house added that additional details are set to follow.
Bicyclist in critical condition after early morning accident in Palm Desert

An early morning crash in Palm Desert sent a bicyclist to the hospital with major injuries. According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, they got a call just after 6:30 Thursday morning of a crash in the area of Fred Waring Drive and San Pablo Avenue in Palm Desert. The bicyclist was struck by a vehicle and was taken to a local hospital. Cal Fire says the patient sustained critical injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Pedestrian killed in Cabazon early morning crash

A Banning man is dead after being struck by a driver early Thursday morning in Cabazon. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 5:40am. The victim, a 60-year old Banning man was walking on the roadway near Malki Avenue in Cabazon, when he was struck by another Banning resident driving on the roadway. CHP says that no drugs or alcohol were involved, and no arrests were made. The Riverside County Coroner's Office has not released the ID of the victim.
Man arrested with guns near Coachella Trump Rally has day in court

A Las Vegas man arrested at a Donald Trump rally in Coachella last October had a court date in Indio Thursday morning to face charges of carrying a loaded firearm in a public place. Vem Miller, 49, was arrested Oct. 12. Riverside County Sheriff's deputies assigned to the rally. Miller did not appear before the judge at the Larson Justice Center Thursday morning, but his attorney entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf stated the Riverside County DA's Office.
Driver ejected from crash in Banning dies, Coroner ID's victim

A driver died after being ejected from a vehicle in Banning Monday afternoon. According to Banning Police they received a call just before 4 pm reporting a traffic collision at the 5200 block of W. Ramsey Street. Upon arrival, they located two vehicles that were involved in the collision and two additional parked vehicles that were also damaged, neither of which was occupied.
PSPD Drone assists in arrest of reckless driving suspect

Palm Springs police arrested a 24-year-old Cathedral City man on suspicion of multiple charges after his allegedly reckless driving was observed by detectives. The suspect was traveling northbound on North Indian Canyon Drive in a white Jeep shortly before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to a Palm Springs Police Department. According to the report released on social media, the driver turned off the vehicle's lights in an attempt to evade law enforcement.
