My furnished and fully carpeted family room is open to the breakfast nook and kitchen, which is open to the rest of the house. Because of where my sofa has to sit in the room, my ears end up about 10 to 11 feet from the speakers. When others here post their setups, it seems that their listening distance often is around 8.5 feet.

#1 · I need to connect my TV to the PC which is on the other side of the room, so I decided on buying an optical HDMI cable. I needed the full 2.1 bandwidth as I am running it all: 4k, 144hz, VRR, HDR10+, 10bpp, Dolby Atmos. Bought one from Highwings, which was the most recommended one on most forums and it suffered audio and video dropouts every 5 minutes until one day it just started having a stable picture for 5 seconds at a time.

#1 · My theater design separates the AV rack from all the inputs so that they are more accessible. With that in mind, I don’t fully know what/how many inputs I will have, but my plan was to have maybe 5 HDMI cables available for future expansion and maybe 2 cat5/6 wires for misc items I didn’t think of. Getting wires to the input area is a snug fit now, and will be borderline impossible to get new wires in once we close in the walls and ceilings.

Anyone run 220V to their rack?

Discussion Starter·#1·a moment agoBesides Europeans, obviously Seem like pretty much every piece of electronics says "mains input: 110-230V" on the back. So long as you're running dedicated AV circuit(s), wouldn't it be easier to pull 1 bigass wire for the whole rack rather than 2 or 3 110V/20A circuits? Less fussy to install, can control / monitor everything from the same PDU, and eliminate the possibility of ground loops.

Discussion Starter·#1·a moment agoAre there any plans (or better yet, prefab flat packs) out there that would be well suited for a DBA? To me that means:Economies of scale. You're gonna need 6-10 of them depending on room size. Sealed. Smaller footprint, simpler and cheaper (?) to build, Plus much easier to model the combined wavefronts. Total woofage from the array means you won't miss the extra SPL. Tuned for mid-bass.
