Adi Shankar returns to the video game adaptation arena after the success of Castlevania, this time bringing hard-rocking demon killer Dante to the small screen.
It's a sharp looking affair that feels more Invincible than anime. It's about as accurate to the original material as Captain N: The Games Master, but even so, it has its charm.

Assassination comedy Sakamoto Days has seen some moderate popularity since it started airing on Netflix, and my initial impressions of the show were largely positive - the idea of a world class killer retiring for love and putting on a Dad-bod has plenty of legs, especially when his old life intrudes and drags him back into the world he left behind.

Those of us who remember the bygone days of anime on VHS will remember Riding Bean, a 45 minute tour-de-force of Americana through a distinctly Japanese lens, as getaway driver Bean Bandit befuddles the law, defies the odds and drives like a man possessed. It was and still is one of the best anime of the 80's.

In what seems to be a trend, the first three episodes of the upcoming Gundam series, GQuuuuuux (pronounced G-Kwux) have been edited together and released in the cinema. Witch Watch is doing the same next week.
Visiting The Light in Leeds, James, Sophie and I (and comically James' brother Ben who we bumped into) really had no idea of what to expect. The series has been written with Hideki Anno of Evangelion fame, and a lot of speculation was that we would be getting some fusion of the two.

One of those grab in the sale punts, Summer Ghost, is one of my least favourite things: a short film. Not that I am biased but most short films are calling cards, style over substance to try and get someone to notice you, finance you, and never feel particularly enticing. Not that I am biased, remember. And of course you are up against Makoto Shinkai, where I would say – at risk of apparently contradicting myself – his short works are better than his longer form works.

Unusually for a film, Trapezium has opening credits, and they're very inventive, mixing a range of animation styles from pop-art colours through to sketches in a lined notebook and birds made of stars, it's a lovely start to a beautiful film, full of colour and detail. It made me feel summery just watching it!
The film follows Yu Azuma who is prepared to go to any lengths to become an idol.
