The bodies of at least 28 migrants have been recovered from a mass grave in a desert in south-east Libya, the country's attorney general said. The grave was discovered north of Kufra, just days after another mass grave with 19 bodies was found on a farm in the same city. Officials found the latest grave following a raid on a human trafficking site, where authorities freed 76 migrants who had been detained and tortured, the office of the attorney general posted on Facebook.

At least 120 people are reported to have been killed in random shelling on Monday in the Dar-Salam area of the Sudanese city of Omdurman, across the Nile from the capital, Khartoum, according to a local volunteer network. The Ombada Emergency Response Room said the death toll was provisional, suggesting that the number of victims could rise. Rescuers say medical supplies are running low as health workers struggle to treat large numbers of people with injuries from bombardments.

More than 150 illegal miners have been rescued from an abandoned mine in South Africa's eastern Mpumalanga province. Police say three bodies were recovered earlier this week on the first day of the rescue operation. Most of those rescued, reportedly foreign nationals, claim they were forced underground against their will to search for gold. A police spokesperson confirmed the miners have been arrested, and investigations are continuing into illegal mining activities in the region.
