Nicky Crowe, from Bournemouth, was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer in February 2025, despite living a health lifestyle and being a non-smoker her whole life, and only has a few years left to live without private treatment. She added: “It’s strange to be in that role that I’m asking for support and health because I know how to do that for others.” Treatment for Nicky’s rare form of cancer is not available on the NHS and without it she only has a 10% chance of living beyond three years.

3 1/1 Cabinet minister and MPs were in Bournemouth this week to announce South Western Railway as the first service to come under public ownership. The Secretary of State for Transport Heidi Alexander unveiled the new “Great British Railway” branding at Bournemouth Traincare Depot that will adorn the service’s trains as the first to come under public control in 30 years.

2 1/1 PROTESTORS who gathered outside a Ferndown community centre say the town is ‘crumbing’ in response to the café’s planned closure at the end of the month. Residents opposed Ferns Café’s shutdown after it was announced at a Ferndown Town Council meeting last month, saying it will bring ‘hardship’ to the community. Eleanor Green, 75, from Ferndown organised the protest as she felt the the Barrington Centre café was vital to the community.

Marley, aged 16, was reported missing having last been seen in the town at around 7pm on Wednesday, May 21 . He is described a five feet ten inches tall and of medium build with very short hair. Marley was last seen wearing a black hooded top and black trousers. Dorset Police are urging for anyone who may have any information from the public as they search for a missing teenage boy in Poole.

Issy Johnson, 19, from Wimborne, is one of 10 finalists for the Miss Dorset competition and hopes to represent the county on a national level while also raising money for Cancer Research UK. She said: “I never thought I’d get to where I am now so to get to the next level would be amazing. As part of her pageantry and to give back to the community, she has organised a family friendly fayre to raise money for Cancer Research UK, a cause she said is ‘close to her heart’.
