2 1/1 A NEW animal rescue centre is set to open its doors this weekend after the charity’s previous iteration closed its doors two years ago. Dorset Hedgehog Rescue in Bere Regis will celebrate its grand opening day on Sunday, June 29 and will give members of the public their one and only opportunity to be shown around the new premises.

Liaising with South Western Ambulance Service, the Coastguard was called out to reports of missing kayakers near the Shell Bay National Trust Car Park at 12.10am on Sunday. Vessels within the area, including RNLI Poole Lifeboat Station lifeboat and Poole Harbour Commissioners, were asked to keep an eye out for a kayak and people fitting the description, before being alerted that the kayakers had been brought ashore by another vessel.

Beach Road Car Park is finally up for sale after a 10-year campaign by the council to move off the land despite residents objecting to the potential, calling it “damaging”.
