Called the Wenlock Witch, the metaphysical store on Barrow Street will be selling all things spiritual. And Kerry has named it in reverence to the town's very own witch, Nanny Morgan.

In Ludlow, the commemorations started at Ludlow Peace Memorial at 10.30am. The Ludlow Town Crier gave the VE Day proclamation at 10.30am before the mayor and local dignitaries, followed by a service led by Revd Andrew Body. The flag was also flying high at the Buttercross. Meanwhile, at FieldHouse Care Home in Church Stretton, the residential home arrangeda buffet for residents, along with a surprise visit.

On Thursday (May 8) pupils at Much Wenlock Primary School celebrated 80 years since the end of war in Europe with a street party-style gathering in their school playground. But it was not just a celebration: the school said staff used the opportunity to teach the children about the significance of the historic day. A spokesperson said: "VE Day is more than a celebration. It is a moment of reflection and gratitude.

There was bunting, 40s songs and a lot of fun as a Shropshire town marked the 80th anniversary of VE Day. Bridgnorth Town Council arranged a part in the Castle Grounds from 7.30pm to mark the May 8 celebration. In conjunction with promoters Dangerous Sheep Events, hundreds descended to the grounds for the free event in the evening. The night saw Lisa-Marie Morrall perform songs from the era, tribute readings, as well as plenty of food and refreshments.

South Shropshire MP Stuart Anderson is among those who has thrown his support behind plans to restore direct rail services to London, after Avanti ceased to operate the route almost a year ago in June 2024. On March 12, Mr Anderson met with Wrexham, Shropshire and Midlands Railway (WSMR) who have developed the plans. If their application is approved, it would see the return of direct services between Wrexham and London via Shropshire.

Fans could be heard cheering desperately as the Bucks trailed 1-0 and 2-1 as they feared a second consecutive Southern Premier Central play-off final defeat.
