COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - University of South Carolina (USC) senior guard Myles Stute was granted a medical hardship waiver from the NCAA. Stute was given another year of eligibility and will return to USC for the 2025-2026 season. “I want to thank coach Paris and the entire coaching staff for their continued belief in me throughout this process, as well as our entire medical staff here for their help with getting me back to being healthy and able to play the game I love,” said Stute.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Basketball legend Dawn Staley’s statue will be unveiled Wednesday in downtown Columbia. Her legacy is not only about winning championships, but also about how she supports her colleagues. USC men’s basketball coach Lamont Paris had been on the job only two weeks when the South Carolina women won their second national championship in 2022. During the welcome home rally, Staley asked the crowd to support the new men’s basketball coach.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WIS) - South Carolina State University announced two big hires during their Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday afternoon. The university named Chennis Berry as its new football coach to succeed Buddy Pough, who retired after 23 seasons with the university. Berry will be leaving Benedict College in Columbia where he led the Tigers in back-to-back SIAC championships in 2022 and 2023.
