GULF COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – More than 50 people came to Salinas Park Gulfside to watch four cold-stunned juvenile green sea turtles return to the Gulf. When the water temperature in shallow bays drops below 50 degrees, sea turtles can become cold-stunned, entering a comatose state. “A sea turtle gets uncomfortable. They can’t move. Their internal organs are still working, so their vitals are still kept going.

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – No matter how old you are, you have the opportunity this weekend to be a kid again. A free event for toy enthusiasts is back for its 5th year in Panama City. The 5th annual Florida Panhandle Toy Expo is happening at the Central Panhandle Fairgrounds. More than 60 vendors are participating, with 130 tables of toys, all for sale. Show creator Tim Pattison says people travel from Alabama, Louisiana, and even California to attend the show.

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – January is National Mentoring Month, and one local school’s mentorship program is empowering students. New Horizons Learning Center is a behavior school for 6th through 12th-grade students. The 26-year-old mentor program matches students with a mentor they meet for one hour each week. They don’t focus on academics or behavior. Instead, they have lunch, play board games and connect. Students receive support from someone other than their teacher or parent.

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Home Depot volunteers teamed up with St. Andrews STEM Academy students to build wooden furniture at the ToolBank USA warehouse. The volunteer effort is one of many happening nationwide. “Our core value is giving back and we really care about giving back to our communities because our communities are what takes care of us and our veterans,” Home Depot Store Manager Christopher Holland said.
