ALEXANDRIA — For the first time the Boys Madison County Golf Championship visited the newly minted Golf Club of Alexandria and, while there was one constant that continued, a late day stunner had the players and coaches alike buzzing. Pre-tournament favorite and the state’s 18th-ranked Pendleton Heights Arabians shot a 303, bettering runners-up Lapel by five strokes to lock up the school’s fourth straight title and 14th crown overall out of the 19 tournaments that have been held.

FRANKTON — A drawback to being undefeated for Alexandria softball coach Jared Bourf is that his 2A top-ranked Tigers had yet to show him how they would respond to the negative adversity of a loss. After a tough walk-off loss to Central Indiana Conference rival Mississinewa on Tuesday, he knew he would find out how his young Tigers would respond to that first defeat.

Friday at noon, services are scheduled for area golf legend Julie Hull Armington, who passed away at the age of 85 earlier this year.
