WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - The Watertown Red and Black are getting a much-deserved off week in the early stages of the 2025 Northeastern Football Alliance season. The Red and Black return to action this Saturday night, when they host the Lockport Wildcats in the opening game of a 2 game homestand. Watertown is off to a 2-0 start after impressive wins over Rochester and Geneseo.

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) -The Canton Golden Bears are meeting Windsor in one girls state Class D lacrosse semifinal at SUNY Cortland. Canton takes command early, Sage Blevins dodges defenders and scores, 1-nothing Canton. A bit later, Olivia Francey gets loose in front and goes low for the tally, 2-nothing, Canton. Then it’s Adrianna Lesperance in front, tickling twine, 3-nothing Golden Bears. Francey then takes it to the goal for her 2nd score of the game, 4-nothing Canton.

Canton meeting Mechanicville in the state Class B regional final. Bottom 3, no score, Scotty Lynch belts a double to the gap in left center, 2 runs score. Mechanicville up 2-nothing. Still in the 3rd, it’s Mark Pingelski with the opposite field base hit to right, 2 more runs cross, 4-nothing Mechanicville.

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Section 10 Track and Field in the spotlight on Thursday. Section X Boys Track Championship Hosted by St Lawrence University. Canton boys distanced the field with 191 points, while Malone finished second with 95 points, and Potsdam 3rd at 79. For the Golden Bears, Noah Gendebien won the 800 and 1600-meter events. Rylan Lee-Powell won the 3200. Caleb Wilkinson captured the high jump. Owen Matthews won the long jump. Lucas Watts was the winner of the 3000-meter Steeplechase.

South Jeff meets Westhill in the girls Section 3 Class D lacrosse championship at SUNY Cortland. Spartans down 1-nothing when Lilly Morrison dents the net, tying the game at 1. Aliana West puts South Jeff up 2-1 when she scores on the doorstep. 3rd quarter, 6-5 Westhill, Morrison scores her 2nd of the game, tying the score at 6.
