WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - On the lacrosse field at Watertown High, a boys Frontier League matchup as the Cyclones hosted South Jeff. Watertown grabs the lead when Kage Loftus goes low for the tally, 1-nothing Cyclones. A little over 30 seconds later, Loftus scores his 2nd of the game, 2-nothing, Watertown. Spartans get on the board when Noah Perry tickles twine, cutting the Watertown lead to 2-1. Hayden Houghmaster ties the score at 2. Watertown beats South Jeff 14-5.

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - The mens Liberty League lacrosse championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division 3 mens lacrosse tournament are on the line Sunday afternoon in Rochester, as top seed R.I.T. hosts 2nd seed St. Lawrence. The Saints are looking to avenge a 14-5 loss to R.I.T. on April 19th in Rochester. Saints strike first when Ted Wilson unloads a blast on the doorstep, 1-nothing St. Lawrence.

A battle for bragging rights in the city as IHC hosted Watertown in girls Frontier League lacrosse. Watertown gets on the board first when Julia Covey dents the net, 1-nothing Cyclones. Moments later, it’s Covey on the doorstep for her 2nd goal of the game, 2-nothing Watertown. Olivia Macutek adds to the Watertown lead with this blast, 3-nothing Cyclones.

ALEXANDRIA BAY, New York (WWNY) - The Thousand Islands Spirits are looking to continue a successful formula that has made them one of the top box lacrosse teams in the nation. The Spirits have won two straight North American Box Lacrosse League Upstate division titles, their latest coming last year in a 31-6 win over Oswego at the Town of Alexandria Recreation Center. Not bad for a team that enters its third year of existence under the guidance of owner and general manager Nate Jobson.

Thanks to one area organization, which has changed over the past few months with a new addition. With a new year came a new opportunity for 1812 Sports and Entertainment, with the group opening Summit Fieldhouse on Route 11 just outside of the city after extensive work.

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - JCC sophomore guard LaKaiya Butcher was named to the 2024-25 NJCAA All-American 1st team on Wednesday. In 61 games with the Cannoneers, Butcher scored 1,106 points and hauled in 589 rebounds. Butcher, who started every game in her 2 seasons on the Coffeen Street campus, was also named MidState Athletic conference and region player of the year. “It’s a huge accomplishment. It obviously means the world to me.
Watertown Red and Black Preview

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - It may be spring, but the Watertown Red and Black Semi-pro football team is thinking about the upcoming 2025 season. On Saturday at the team’s Faichney Drive office, coach George Ashcraft held a meeting for players and coaches to unofficially kick off the 2025 season. The Red and Black will once again be competing in the Northeastern Football Alliance’s AA division and will open the season on May 31st at home, hosting the Charlotte Colonials.
