Spalding United will be laying what it calls a "state-of-the-art" artificial pitch at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field. The floodlights and the changing rooms will also be improved. The club, known as the Tulips, described the investment as a gift to supporters and the wider community.

One of the competitors who won the first gold medal for Team GB at the Paris games is enjoying getting back to "life as normal" in Lincolnshire. Ros Canter, 38, from Hallington, near Louth, won the Olympic gold in team eventing on Monday, but said she was glad to be home after missing her daughter – who watched mum receive her medal on TV. Canter said: "A couple of nights ago we went to buy some crisps. She told the man, ‘my mummy’s been in the Olympics’.

A racing driver from Lincolnshire is set to star in a new Netflix documentary following the progress of the all-female F1 Academy championship. Abbi Pulling, from Gosberton, drives for the Rodin Motorsport team and recently became the first female driver to top the podium in a Formula 4 race. The documentary is being produced by Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine production company. Pulling said the global audience the documentary could potentially bring would be "huge for the sport".
