When Josh Hogue collided with his teammate, he immediately knew something was wrong. This was different. Hogue saw the mortified expressions on the faces of his teammates. That led him to look for himself. “I knew it was pretty bad right off the bat, and then I was looking at everyone else's expressions, Hogue said. “I looked for myself. I looked down and I saw it was broken. I almost blacked out, but I was feeling all of that adrenaline. I just knew something was wrong when it happened.

NC State will be happy to get away from Miami. It was a rough weekend, and not due to the weather. The Wolfpack was chasing from behind all weekend, and Sunday’s thunderstorms almost felt like a needed respite for NCSU. Daniel Cuvet (5-for-6, 2 doubles, 2 homers, 2 walks, 8 runs batted in) not driving in a run during an at-bat would rate as a moral victory for NC State, since Cuvet reached base at will–– at least when he was jogging around the bases.

NC State swept Clemson. The Wolfpack catapulted itself into first place in the ACC standings. It is a little familiar. Two seasons ago, Clemson strolled into Doak Field with brooms ready en route to an impressive sweep over NC State. After a start of 2-8 in ACC play (17-14 overall), it was clear that the Tigers were figuring it out on the diamond. Clemson used that success to propel itself forward, and it led to an ACC postseason title.

Miami is on the cusp of getting swept by Virginia. When I was in Coral Gables last weekend the Hurricanes could do no wrong. I guess that why you play the games.
