WOOD COUNTY, W.Va. — Following a ruling by the West Virginia Supreme Court, the Class A state volleyball tournament can begin. The ruling says the SSAC may proceed with the Class A championship “according to its rules and authority.” As a result of the court rulings, Tyler Consolidated will not be part of the Class A field. This also affects cheering.

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio — Three years ago, Dover High School alum Hunter Armstrong entered uncharted waters. He was a first time Olympian after surprising many with a second-place backstroke finish at the 2021 swim trials. He returned home with a gold medal, swimming in the semifinals of the 400-medley relay in Tokyo after just missing out on finals spot in 100 backstroke.

DOVER, Ohio — Dover High School alum Hunter Armstrong is nearing his second summer Olympic Games appearance. NEWS9’s Rob Metzger caught up with people who know the former Ohio State Buckeye very well -- Ryan and Edie, his parents, plus his older brother Jake, who was a Big 12 swimming champion at WVU. “He didn't have a goal to be an Olympian ... he just wanted to make the national team,” Edie said.

After 21 years as a professional player in Puerto Rico, he's a coach these days. And soon, he will be in Paris as a member of Puerto Rico's men's basketball staff, after qualifying in front of the home fans.
