Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide, with the global cancer burden expected to increase by 47% between 2020 and 2040.1 The relative magnitude of this increase is most striking in countries categorized as having a low or medium Human Development Index,1 emphasizing the need for equitable approaches for cancer control that are not resource-dependent. Dietary intake and interventions have been studied for decades in an effort to understand how diet may contribute to cancer control.
