AbstractPancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a highly aggressive disease characterized by complex metabolic rewiring that enables growth in changing nutrient availability and oxygen conditions. Transcriptome-based prognostic PDAC tumor subtypes, known as ‘basal-like’ and ‘classical’ subtypes are associated with differences in metabolic gene expression including genes involved in glycolysis.

Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide, with the global cancer burden expected to increase by 47% between 2020 and 2040.1 The relative magnitude of this increase is most striking in countries categorized as having a low or medium Human Development Index,1 emphasizing the need for equitable approaches for cancer control that are not resource-dependent. Dietary intake and interventions have been studied for decades in an effort to understand how diet may contribute to cancer control.

The Netherlands’ cervical cancer screening program transitioned to primary human papillomavirus (HPV) screening in 2017. After the introduction of HPV-based screening, the country saw increases in colposcopy referral rates and detections of low-grade lesions. In July 2022, genotyping was introduced, and those with borderline or mild dyskaryotic (BMD) cytologic abnormalities were only referred to colposcopy if positive for HPV type 16 or 18, and repeat screening otherwise.

Xenograft-bearing mice were euthanized when the size of the tumors approached 1000 mm3 in volume (combining together the sizes of individual tumors when more than one was present). The tumor material was excised aseptically, then processed as previously described [26, 57]. Briefly, the tumor was harvested and minced finely with scalpels, then mechanically disaggregated for 1 min using the Stomacher 80 Biomaster (Seward Limited, Worthing, UK) in 1–2 mL cold DMEM-F12 medium.

The growing use of primary human papillomavirus (HPV) cervical cancer screening requires determining appropriate screening intervals to avoid overtreatment of transient disease. This study examined the long-term risk of cervical precancer after HPV screening to inform screening interval recommendations.
