Chris Miller has been in this position before. The Caledonia resident took over the overall offshore division lead in the Salmon-A-Rama Lake Michigan Fishing Contest on Tuesday with a 30.9-pound chinook salmon. That is just ahead of the previous leader, Brook Gerondale of Luxemburg, who registered a 29.36-pound chinook earlier Monday after catching it Sunday night.

Bryce Ruland has taken his considerable track and field talents to the University of Iowa. But not until after the 2024 Waterford High School graduate won a world championship. Ruland, who defended his state title in the Division 1 discus competition at the WIAA State Track and Field Championships in La Crosse on May 31, qualified for the World Athletic U20 Championships in Lima, Peru by finishing second in the discus at the USA Track and Field National Championships in Eugene, Oregon on June 12.

The All-Racine County Boys Golf team has a distinct west-end feel to it. Four of the five first-team players are from schools west of Interstate 94, and the school farthest west in the county, Waterford, led the team by taking the first three spots. Wolverines junior Robbie Meyers was named the Player of the Year and was joined on the first team by fellow junior Jackson Heath and senior Adam Chart.
