The Journal Times

The Journal Times

The Journal Times has a history that dates back to 1852 when it was originally established as the Racine Weekly Journal. It transitioned to a daily publication in 1856. During the American Civil War, the paper was acquired by William L. Utley, a former state senator and leader of the 22nd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, known as the "Abolition Regiment." Utley and his family managed the publication for a period, but by 1875, it was sold to Frank Starbuck. Starbuck was the son of the publisher of The Times of Cincinnati and had been involved with the paper as a co-publisher since 1873.
