The top four floors of the six-story building would house 60 apartments, with 80 percent designated as affordable. Auburn’s St. Dominic Academy brought the lawsuit about a year after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Maine could not bar religious schools from receiving state funding as part of a “town tuitioning” program, which paid for students from certain towns to attend other public or private schools.

    Maine community college graduates will be guaranteed admission to the University of Maine System under a new transfer agreement announced Wednesday. Maine Community College System President David Daigler said the state’s public colleges have long had hundreds of separate agreements making it possible for students to transfer to university programs after graduating from community college.
