The New Wolsey's Chief Executive Douglas Rintoul has built upon last year's Rock 'n' Roll pantomime directing debut to create a real winner. For her second New Wolsey panto, the accomplished writer and comedian Vikki Stone selected more of a 'Pop 'n' Rock' song list rather than a classic Rock 'n' Roll musical show.

Two packed houses at last weekend's Hadleigh Jazz Club enjoyed Paul Higgs and his Sextet Pavane performing a classical/jazz concert that showcased some fresh compositions from their new album Summer Lullaby. The unique blend of styles included Paul's atmospheric and melody-rich original compositions, as well as specially selected cover versions. Paul, the former musical director at the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company, beautifully arranged all.

I used to teach high school biology and chemistry. As I look back on the philosophy of what I was doing the first month of school, I recognize an interesting dichotomy. In chemistry the first unit is about atomic theory, how it was developed by Dalton to explain the Law of Definite Proportions and the Law of Multiple proportions. And soon after, we found evidence from Thompson and Rutherford that all atoms are composed of even smaller particles, the electrons, protons, and (later) neutrons.

You Can’t Get Free Will From Randomness - Bunk!

I have often heard philosophers utter the above phrase, confident that it is a philosophically sound proposition. However, I have never heard or heard of an actual argument made in support of this proposition. The argument I will make is a scientific and logical argument that free will, if it exists, can only exist as a result of randomness. This argument also negates determinism in living systems.
