Molloy in particular was brilliant as he linked the defence and attack and the Cats can now claim to having one of the best centre pairings in the country.

Kilkenny produced a highly polished attacking display as they blew away the challenge of near neighbours Wexford in the opening round of the Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Hurling Championship on Sunday afternoon. With eight starters and one sub involved from the Kilkenny team that lost out to Tipperary in last year's All-Ireland Final, this always looked an above average bunch and while it's very much early days, the first signs were very positive.

Kilkenny will kick off the defence of their Leinster minor hurling championship title when they play host to Wexford in the season opener at UPMC Nowlan Park on Easter Sunday afternoon (2pm). It’s the first of three round-robin games for Niall Bergin’s outfit with further clashes to come against Galway and Dublin on successive weekends. The Kilkenny boss is looking forward to getting going for a new year.

Kilkenny kicked off the Leinster Championship with a resounding victory over a very disappointing Galway team in UPMC Nowlan Park. An opening half Adrian Mullen goal as well as second half efforts from Eoin Cody and Mossy Keoghan did the job for Derek Lyng's team as the hosts claimed a first ever round-robin victory over their opponents.

After a mixed league campaign, Kilkenny now turn their attention to the Leinster Championship as they face into five games in the next six weeks with Saturday’s televised game with Galway in UPMC Nowlan Park kicking things off with a bang. While the Cats are now into their 10th season since they last won the All-Ireland title, success in the province hasn’t abandoned them and they will go in search of a sixth title in a row.
