KING – Recent West Stokes graduate Bryson Bowman signed his letter-of-intent to play basketball at Averett University after considering an offer from William Peace University and other interest from such schools as Guilford College, Randolph-Macon College, Roanoke College, Lynchburg University, and Eastern Mennonite University. “I’m very excited, very thankful for this opportunity,” said Bowman.” There was a time that I wasn’t going to play basketball in college, but then decided to do it.

KING – Former Chestnut Grove teacher and coach, Jason Sammons, has landed in a familiar role with West Stokes High School. Sammons was named the school’s sixth athletic director behind Dan Spainhour, Jimmy Upchurch, Annette Johnson, Chris Manley, and Travis Gammons. “We are excited to welcome coach Sammons as our athletic director,” said principal Dr. Sam Jones.

DANBURY – For 15 years Rodney King helped teach and coach at North Stokes in the school’s cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track and field programs. King left the school he graduated from in 1997 and became the Millennium Charter Academy’s (MCA) Athletic Director in the 2016-17 school year and also served as either the head or as an assistant coach, in all three running sports.
