The YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina recently hosted its 11th annual Breakfast for Community event at the Nir Family YMCA. The May 30 event raised over $209,000, which provides scholarships for families and individuals to access program and membership opportunities at rates adjusted to their household incomes. “Every dollar raised is a step toward a stronger, more connected community,” stated Shannon Berg, director of development for the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina, in the release.

City officials will consider measures related to a senior housing development during a meeting tonight as demand for the housing type continues to grow. The Wilmington City Council's agenda includes a resolution to provide gap funding to a company, Wallick Communities, that wants to build a $14 million, 48-unit affordable senior housing development at 710 N. Kerr Ave.
