Anti-Israel activists have been nothing if not creative in finding opportunities to spread their disinformation. Whether it is harassing politicians at public events, trespassing in shopping malls and accosting shoppers on Boxing Day, they have sought every opportunity to promote anti-Israel messages, and force them upon the unsuspecting public at large. As the year 2025 approached, it seems their tactics remain no different.

In their October 21 opinion column in The Toronto Star entitled: “We are progressive Jews who have been let down by our community leaders,” Bailey Greenspon, Jonathan Sas and Sam Hersh, three self-described “Jewish progressives,” presented themselves as the moral voice of Jews, daring to speak out in favour of peace in the Middle East. One of the authors, Hersh, shamelessly began accusing Israel of “genocide” virtually instantly after Hamas’ October 7 massacres.

Just when it seems that Adbusters can’t sink any lower into disrepute, the magazine somehow finds a way to accomplish exactly that. Adbusters, a Vancouver-based magazine which calls itself a “global collective of writers, artists, designers, musicians, poets, philosophers and punks,” has previously called Hamas terrorists “freedom fighters,” has encouraged Palestinian terrorism, denied Israel’s right to exist and engaged in Jew hatred by comparing Gaza to the Warsaw Ghetto.

CBC News recently published an article by an author with an openly admitted anti-Israel agenda in which she built an entire narrative around the unverified claims of a Hamas propaganda body and used the tragic human toll of war to unfairly demonize Israel.

Twice within a span of a single day, Canada’s national broadcaster used the occasion of the Paralympic Games to indulge false propaganda narratives about Israel’s defensive war against the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip. Disabled Gazan athlete Fadi Aldeeb participated in the Paralympics, sparking several instances of dedicated CBC coverage.

CBC News, Canada’s public broadcaster, has often been criticized for being one-sided, inaccurate and driven by ideology rather than a desire to truthfully report on world events, especially those about Israel. And while it might be possible to debate the relative honesty of CBC’s reporting generally, there is certainly little room for disagreement when it comes to its coverage of the Israel-Hamas war.

In an ‘analysis’ that offered precious little in the way of thoughtful analysis, The Globe & Mail’s Senior International Correspondent Mark Mackinnon published an article on August 30 where he cynically framed Israel’s counter-terrorism operations against Hamas, not as an effort to root out a genocidal terrorist group dead-set on murdering Israelis, but an effort purely made for cynical ideological purposes.

In recent days, news agencies across Canada have been covering the story of a young boy in Gaza who has contracted polio, a disease that was largely eradicated for the past 30 years and which was detected in wastewater in July, with the first confirmed case recently being reported. For its part, CBC reported on the situation with unfortunate, yet predictable bias.
