DOE needs to develop independent assessment capabilities for SMRs (and other technologies) that focus on the pathway to price and performance parity (P3).

Today, solar and wind are relatively low cost, and prices will likely fall further. But they are not like fossil fuels—they are what’s known as variable renewable energy (VRE)—meaning they only produce electricity when the sun shines or the wind blows. kAm$@>6E:>6D E9:D G2C:2E:@? :D AC65:4E23=6] u@C 6I2>A=6[ D@=2C 5@6D?’E 86?6C2E6 A@H6C 2E ?:89E[ 2?5 86?6C2E6D =6DD A@H6C :?
