Writing about Norwich City this season has been like being in the film Groundhog Day, where Bill Murray has to relive the same day over and over again. How many times have we seen the same scenario? Silly defensive errors gifting goals to opponents who’ve actually created little themselves, periods of possession with little or no end product or one good half and one bad one.

“Maybe we just don’t want it enough.” The words of 19-year-old Jacob Wright went straight to the heart of the matter last Saturday. With the play-offs now effectively out of reach for Norwich City, Johannes Hoff Thorup faces a new set of challenges. First and foremost will be keeping fans engaged as the season peters out, but that will be difficult when balanced against a need to plan for next season. If certain players aren’t part of that plan, either through the coach’s choice or their own, then there is a strong argument for not playing them in the remaining fixtures in order to look at alternatives.

This international break has come at a good time for Norwich City to gather themselves for the remaining games. Following on from a poor performance against Oxford and a shocking second half against Sheffield Wednesday, the defeat at Bristol City was yet another game in which City managed to be the architects of their own destruction, conceding early goals through over-playing at the back and missing a series of chances at the other end.
