By: Rocky DowningClay Center hosted the 4A Sub State Championship on Saturday and knocked out Hugoton and are now headed to the State Championships in Salina. The Lady Tigers jumped out early behind four 3-pointers; two each from Janae Crimmins and Lily Edwards. Defense was key in building a 21-point lead at halftime. Clay Center struggled in the 3rd to score but still led by a dozen starting the 4th. They put the game away down the stretch with a 50-39 final.

By: Rocky DowningThe Clay Center Lady Tiger Wrestlers had three First Team selections in the North Central Kansas League: 125 Senior Gabi Koppes; 130 Freshman Evellyn Farley and 145 Sophomore Kiersten Dumas. Four more received Honorable Mention: 105 Sophomore Brooklyn Gordon; 115 Freshman Chloe Rott; 120 Sophomore Ezri Catlin and 190 Sophomore Skylet March. Senior Hayden Kalivoda led the way on the boy’s side with a First Team selection at 126.

By: Rocky DowningThe Lady Tigers and Tigers dropped two close home games to Rock Creek. The Lady Tigers fell 54-45. Raegann McDonald put up big numbers with another double-double; scoring 22 points and hauling in 12 rebounds. Lily Edwards hit for 11 and had 4 boards; Ayla Johnson had 4 points (6 rebounds); Miley McGee-3; Janae Crimmins-3 (4 rebounds); Raimme Lipker-2. The Tiger Boys kept getting within reach but never could take the lead on the Mustangs falling 58-49.

By: Rocky DowningClay Center competed in the 4A Regional Championships in Abilene on Saturday. Two Tigers finished a Regional Runner-Up; Sophomore Thayne Pfizenmaier at 113 and Senior Hayden Kalivoda at 126. And Junior Blaize Charbonneau took 3rd at 120. The Tigers as a team finished in 7th place overall.

By: Rocky DowningFor the second straight game, the Cardiac Kids did it again; winning a nail-biter 57-55. The Tigers trailed by three after one quarter but took a 37-34 lead into halftime. They led the entire half until the Braves tied it late at 55-55.
