Human cerebral organoids offer a powerful model of brain tissue in a dish that can be used to investigate neurodegenerative disorders. Our previous work showed that cerebral organoids could be infected with sCJD prions derived from human brain tissue. However, as organoids represent, but are not actual brain tissue, it was imperative to determine if the prions propagated within them were the original subtype or adaptations.
