Colorado Avalanche fans have been waiting for captain Gabriel Landeskog's comeback for 1,020 days. And on Friday night, he finally made his return. It was up in Loveland for the Colorado Eagles, the minor league team of the Avs. Landeskog was named a starter for the game against the Henderson Silver Knights, and when he was introduced the full house of fans gave a cheer that might have been the loudest ever heard at Blue Federal Credit Union Arena.

After picking up back-to-back wins over the Saints and the Panthers, the Denver Broncos have a 5-3 record, and a lot of that can be attributed to a certain rookie quarterback who the NFL on Thursday named Offensive Rookie of the Month: Bo Nix. You might not realize it's been 22 years since a Denver Broncos player won Offensive Rookie of the Month honors. Running back Clinton Portis was honored way back in 2002 when he was a Bronco, and rusher Mike Anderson two years before that -- twice.

Following in the footsteps of a legend. It would be better to be the guy after the guy, that way the footsteps you fill aren't so big, but Matt Brown doesn't seem to mind. Brown was honored to coach for Bill Tierney at the University of Denver and now he is thrilled to take over the Pioneers program after Tierney called it a career. "It's exciting you know it's a dream come true," said Brown. "I've always just wanted to be a Pioneer, I've never wanted to go anywhere else.
