Ray Selva and his girlfriend Julie Prosek are both animal lovers. A foster parent and shelter worker, respectively, the pair attended the Carnegie Science Center’s Paws and Claws 21+ Night on Friday, April 11, to meet local animals in need of homes. But by a little after 7 p.m., they’d traded barks and meows for mechanical whirs. Standing at a computer terminal, they designed a metal tag fit for a collar.

Spring has just barely begun, but the Allegheny Regional Asset District (RAD) is ready for summer. RAD launched its Summer Staycation program, which puts tens of thousands of free tickets to Carnegie Museums, the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium and other local attractions into the hands of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County library card holders, on Tuesday, April 8. You can start visiting some destinations as early as today, April 10, for free.
