Essen (energate) - Public net electricity generation from onshore wind power was below average in the first quarter of 2025. Wind turbines generated just 26,638 GWh of electricity by the end of March, the worst figure since 2017, when 22,676 GWh of electricity was produced with around 13,000 MW less total installed capacity in the same period. This was the result of an energate analysis of net public electricity generation based on data from the Fraunhofer Institute Ise on Energy Charts.

Relatively cold May temperatures in combination with little wind caused bullish prices on the day-ahead, while futures rose due to gas and CO2 prices.
