This paper presents, to our knowledge, a novel micro-ring wavelength selective switchdevice based on a contra-directional coupler (contra-DC), whichutilizes the transparent window formed by the contra-DC to select thesingle resonant wavelength of the micro-ring resonator, avoiding thelimitation of free spectral range and realizing the function ofwavelength selection/switching.

The current research on metasurfaces is mostly focused on its ability to manipulate electromagnetic waves in space, which requires a large number of subwavelength structures to control, thus making it difficult to avoid the problem of large device size. However, it also has great development potential in the conversion of space light to guided waves.
