INTRODUCTION Tropical rainforests are some of the most biodiverse regions on Earth (Raven et al., 2020; Wilson, 1988). However, in recent decades large areas have been lost primarily due to forest clearance for agriculture (Curtis et al., 2018; Potapov et al., 2017). Particularly for old-growth endemic species, these drastic changes in habitat structure can lead to a high extinction risk (Stork et al., 2009).
