You’ll want to stay inside this Mother’s Day. Widespread rain will extend across metro Atlanta this weekend, including the Sunday holiday, and into next week. It’s also going to be cool with highs in the mid-60s both Saturday and Sunday, and even when it’s not raining it’s going to be cloudy and dreary. So, picnics and hikes with mom might not be the best bet, but brunch is always a good backup plan.

A Hall County teacher and coach was killed when a car hit his motorcycle Tuesday morning. Victor Vega, 54, of Gainesville, was driving along Jesse Jewell Parkway approaching Old Cornelia Highway on his 2003 Honda CMX 300 around 7:45 a.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol. Around the same time, a driver in a Chevrolet Suburban failed to yield while making a left turn, causing Vega to hit the Suburban's front right bumper.

A man has been arrested after another man was shot and killed at a Cobb County apartment complex Friday. Police were called around 7:15 p.m. to the Westminster Square Apartments on Windy Hill Road just outside Marietta. The location is west of I-75 near Dobbins Air Reserve Base. When police arrived, they found Micah Bender, 21, of Lithia Springs, with gunshot wounds. Bender was rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, but he did not survive.
