Ms Finch-Saunders said she is "baffled" by comments made about her by the chiefs as the statistics were given to her by the West Conwy coastal chief inspector.

A woman who was hit by a bike when she was walking her dog has died from her injuries almost five weeks later. The 57-year-old was walking with her husband on Moorland Road in Splott, Cardiff, at about 17:30 GMT on 10 December when a cyclist rode into her before fleeing the scene. South Wales Police said the cyclist was male, wearing a black face covering, a white shirt and red tie. The victim was taken to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff where she died on Monday.

Official-looking road signs about suicide have been put near a bridge, leaving passers-by worried about people misinterpreting them. There were concerns that people with depression may see them and get "triggered" due to the location, next to Cardiff's River Taff. The signs were put there by a campaign called Project7000 The Lost City which aims to raise awareness of the mental health crisis in the construction industry.

A fireworks display descended into chaos when rockets flew into the crowd and hit spectators. Rhian said her children were traumatised after they were hit by fireworks from the display at Mynyddygarreg Hall near Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, on Tuesday night. Another mum said the malfunction happened within three minutes, but the display was not stopped. Organisers have been contacted for comment. Rhian said she had just finished filming part of the display when the chaos began.

A woman says her family have been unable to grieve the death of her grandmother after a "hospital nightmare". Lilian Evans, 90, was taken to Wrexham Maelor hospital on 25 August after vomiting blood, but A&E staff admitted her for a UTI she did not have, said her granddaughter. Rachael Evans, 37, said the lack of care given to her grandmother was "unbelievable" - including giving her penicillin despite an allergy and diagnosing her with cancer and Parkinson's disease without informing the family.

Dame Shirley Bassey's jewellery collection has smashed a world record in a Paris auction with all of the lots belonging to the singer selling for a collective price of 2.2 million euros (£1.8 million). Bassey, who grew up in Cardiff's Tiger Bay, famously sang about diamonds in the title track of the 1971 James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever starring Sir Sean Connery. She previously said she accepted the offer to sing the track as the lyrics "rang true" to her.
