Frankfort, IN – [April 15, 2025] – At the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting last night, Mayor Judy Sheets recommended the closure of the TPA Park Zoo. Following discussion, the Board of Public Works and Safety voted to approve Mayor Sheets’ recommendation. Over the years, the small zoo included animals such as Goats, Pigs, Donkey, Ducks and Peacocks. This decision comes after recent challenges, including evolving interpretations of USDA regulations and significant financial expenditures.

The teaching contract for former Frankfort High School Math Teacher Drew Akridge was cancelled effective immediately in a special Community Schools of Frankfort Board Meeting held at 6pm Monday evening April 14. Drew Akridge was arrested by Frankfort Police Department this afternoon.

Dr. Ron D. Wilson, DC, L.Ac, age 74, of Frankfort, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025, at his residence. He was born August 4, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee to George Alexander “JR” and Florence Nellie (Baldwin) Wilson, Jr. He married Glenis Lavern Watson on December 20, 1969 and she survives. Ron was a graduate of Dowagiac High School in Michigan.
