    Construction Workers are picking up detour signs after bridge re-surface work has been completed on the Indiana 75 bridge over Kilmore Creek southwest of Kilmore, Indiana. According to a worker on site, unless unforeseen issues occur, only minor stripe painting and other minor work remains. Detour signs were being removed Wednesday morning.

    Hoosier cigarette smokers can expect to pay two-dollars per pack in the cigarette tax now that a cigarette tax increase is part of the final Indiana budget deal. This is the first cigarette tax increase in 17 years and is intended to help close a $2 billion revenue shortfall in the state budget. The tax hike will also apply proportionally to other tobacco products and the revenue generated is earmarked for Medicaid programs.

    Kent Allen Brewer, 63, of rural Frankfort, died April 22, 2025 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. He was born January 16, 1962 in Lima, Ohio to Norman Lee Brewer and Carol (Moyer) Brewer Byrnes. He married Kimberly Johnson on August 14, 1982 in Frankfort and she survives. Kent was a 1980 graduate of Clinton Prairie High School. He was a farmer and business owner for 45 years. His was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church, and the Frankfort Order of Symposiarchs.
