Monday night there was no place like home for the Central Greenbrier Little League Baseball All-Stars. The 8-10 All-Stars opened the night by grabbing the District 4 championship with a 12-2 win over Shady Spring in four innings at Hollowell Park. Central Greenbrier did not lose a game in District play and advances, along with Shady Spring, to state tournament in Huntington, July 4. In the nightcap, the 11-12 All-Stars never trailed in a 13-5 win over Sophia in a winner's bracket contest.

Survive and advance. For the second straight day and the second game in a row, the Beckley Little League Baseball All-Stars faced an elimination game. Once again, the Beckley boys came up big. Building a 4-0 lead, Beckley held off a solid effort from the New River Gorge All-Stars to take a 7-4 win Monday night at Beckley Little League Park. Beckley will now play Sophia Tuesday night in another elimination game. The location is still to be determined.

Beckley Post 32 Top Prospects Junior Legion and Beckley Bash Post 32 Senior Legion both picked up wins Monday at Linda K. Epling Stadium over Florida Gulf Coast Prospects guided by former Greenbrier East standout and Major League Baseball player Seth McClung. The Post 32 Junior Legion team opened the doubleheader with an 11-4 win over FGCP Black 16U. Jacob Claypool shined at the plate with three hits, including a double, and four RBI's.

Charleston - On a night where both games could have gone either way, Beckley Bash Post 32 made the key plays and had the timely hits to leave town with a doubleheader sweep of Charleston Post 65. The visitors escaped the opener with an 8-5 win before grabbing 10-4 victory in the nightcap. Beckley took an early 3-0 lead in the opener, but surrendered four runs in the bottom of the third inning to trail 5-3.
