    Another art opening at the Station House Gallery on May 1 is giving some art a second lease on life. The gallery's Middle Man art show is underway, with people bringing in art they no longer want or don't have space for to be resold. The show and sale works as a fundraiser for the gallery. "It's a really unique opportunity for us to fund raise for our children's programs, for our exhibition programs, and then help art be enjoyed," explained Davanna Stafford, executive director of the gallery.

    Williams Lake city council approved a request to declare National Accessibility Week from May 25 to May 31 in the city. The city council voted unanimously in support of the request, which came from the city's Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC). The AAC holds public meetings monthly eight to 10 times per year at city hall and is supported administratively by the city.

    In a move to save staff time and the city money, city council has restored the city's purchasing policy. After discussion at the April 29 committee of the whole meeting, the committee recommended council remove restrictions on purchasing and instead return to the city's purchasing policy, while also directing staff to continue to purchase Canadian goods and services at the operational level wherever possible. On March 18, 2025, council had passed a resolution brought forward by Coun.

    The Social Planning Council (SPC) of Williams Lake has been working to address issues related to poverty in the community for 30 years. Brie Odd, executive director of the Social Planning Council, thanked city council for their support over the years at their regular meeting on May 6. SPC began in 1995 and has been working to collaborate across the community to support those struggling, explained Odd.
